Candide

Candide at Boston University Theatre Mainstage

Why see Candide?

A critically-acclaimed and sold-out hit during its earlier runs in Chicago and Washington, D.C., this new adaptation of Leonard Bernstein's Candide is directed by Tony Award winner and MacArthur Genius Grant winner Mary Zimmerman.

Adapted from the Voltaire classic, Candide finds the naive title hero banished for romancing the Baron's daughter and enduring a series of misadventures that test his optimistic faith in humanity.

The musical features such songs as "Glitter and Be Gay," "Make our Garden Grow" and "The Best of All Possible Worlds." The production features Broadway veterans Geoff Packard in the title role and Lauren Molina as Cunegonde.
