Guitarist Eliades Ochoa and laud player Barbarito Torres head out on a US tour
2015 saw the farewell tour of the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, but that doesn't mean it's members are retiring! Guitarist Eliades Ochoa and laud player Barbarito Torres will bring the sun-drenched climbs of Cuba to the US when they hit the road in the new year, so break out your floral shirt and stave off the winter blues with their heady mix of salsa-infused latin jazz and feel-good Cuban traditional music. The duo will hit in , ,
Known for his cowboy hat and a guitar style that stems from the afro-cuban origins of son, guaracha and bolero music, Ochoa started playing guitar at the age of 6, a decision that saw him feature in the Buena Vista Social Club many decades later. Torres, a world renowned laud player (a traditional instrument related to the lute), is known for his virtuosic solos and is one of the foremost musicians of the guajiro tradition.
