Beethoven - Triple Concerto
Written for his royal pupil Archduke Rudolf of Austria in the early 19th century, this piece for cello, violin and piano is the only work he created of this kind. An energetic and enjoyable expereince, the exiberance will lay the perfect introduction to the evening.
Shostakovich - Symphony No. 10
Written as Shostakovich's response to living under Stalin's tyrannical regime, Symphony No. 10 attempts to mirror the struggles of ordinary people in the face of the inexhaustible fear perpetuated by the ruler and his followers. Rising and falling, expect to be swept away by the drama in this important piece.
