POSTPONED TO THE 2020/21 SEASON
Shakespeare's simmering cauldron of fate, violence and female ambition gets a riotous rock and roll treatment during emerging playwright and performer Whitney White's Macbeth In Stride, playing at the American Repertory Theatre in the Spring of 2021. It makes up part one of White's series of concert/plays dedicated to exploring the women of Shakespeare through the medium of music.
Singing the songs of the likes of Ike and Tina Turner, The Doors and more, White explores the descent into madness of Lady Macbeth and her husband, through the lens of a tumultuous relationship on the sticks. An intimate portrait of ambition turned sour and the punishment of women who think too far above their station, push boundaries and sing too loud, this is The Bard as you've never seen or heard him before!
Performance date: 23 April 2021
