An Evening Of Vibrant South American Music
As part of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Casual Fridays concert series, the world class ensemble welcomes the return of Grammy-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel to the Boston Symphony Hall, who continues his championing of music and composers from his home continent of South America. Audience members are invited to wear casual attire and attend a special pre-concert reception before taking a seat for an electrifying program of works by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera and Venezuelan composer and choirmaster Antonio Estevez. There's even a section of 'Conductor Cam' seats which give audience members a view of Dudamel from the orchestra's perspective!
Joining the evening's proceedings are Argentinian classical pianist Sergio Tempo and Venezuelan baritone Gustavo Castillo, who'll knock off aural socks with their performances of Ginastera's atmospheric, magical-realism infused Piano Concerto No. 1 and Castillo's enchanting Cantata Castillo, which tells the tale of an epic singing contest between Satan and a Venezuelan cowboy.
