Kirill Gerstein Performs A World Premiere Work

In 2016, renowned British conductor/composer Thomas Ades was appointed the Boston Symphony's Artistic Partner, marking the beginning of a beautiful musical friendship. The fruits of this creative partnership now blossom in a special four night program, featuring a brand new world premiere work composed by Ades himself for friend and frequent collaborator Kirill Gerstein. Gerstein joins the ensemble to perform the Piano Concerto before taking it to Carnegie Hall for its New York debut.

With his roots in the jazz education of his youth, American virtuoso Gerstein has quickly risen to the upper echelons of the classical music world thanks to a bold interpretive style, an energetic and deeply expressive musical personality and masterful technique. Wether performing classical or jazz, the Avery Fisher Grant winner brings a breathtaking artistry and almost preternatural sense of oneness with his instrument, resulting in a musicality and tonal sensitivity unparalleled today.

Program
Liszt - Mephisto Waltz No. 1
Ades - Concerto for  piano and orchestra
