BSO Subscription Series Debut
His last performance with the Boston Symphony Orchestra was at Tanglewood more than ten years ago; now conducting Schumann and Stravinsky in the BSO's very own Symphony Hall, Dudamel takes to his platform for two weeks of incredible concerts.
Gustavo Dudamel is one of the most distinguished contemporary conductors; he was the first classical musician to take part in the Super Bowl Halftime Show, guest-conducted on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens soundtrack, has reached millions of people through cinematic, television, radio and online broadcasts and has received countless awards for his talent including Musical America's 2013 Musician of the Year, Gramophone's Artist of the Year 2011, and was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2009.
In what will prove to be an uplifting, thrilling and exhilarating night, the performances showcase two contrasting spring works: Schumann's energetic 1841 Symphony No. 1, Spring, in 1841, followed by the mercurial and powerful ballet score, The Rite of Spring written by Igor Stravinsky in 1913.
