Committed to the development of new works and playwrights locally, the Huntington Theater Company presents the fully realized familial comedy We All Fall Down as part of their 2019/20 season, after a rousing debut at its 2018 Breaking Ground Festival. Exploring the stories that just aren't told about women, playwright Lila Rose Kaplan is a rising talent in the Boston theater scene thanks to her heartfelt comedies, dramas and musicals for children.
The delightfully humourous story follows the Stein family. Its matriarch Linda is a family therapist with marxist tendencies, so has raised her two daughters with her husband Saul with staunchly secular views. But when Saul suddenly retires, she invites her grown up daughters back home to celebrate Passover, an ancient tradition that just may tear the family apart instead of bringing them together...
