The Modern Genius Of William Forsythe
Marking the Boston Ballet's fifth year of creative partnership with American dancer and choreographer William Forsythe, Full On Forsythe opens the company's Spring season with a program of premieres. A leading voice in contemporary ballet, fearless innovator and dance icon Forsythe changed the face of ballet with a series of radical works in the 80s, bringing a fiercely modern perspective to an art form tightly laced into its traditions.
The program begins with an a world premiere from Forsythe, his first new work commissioned by an American company in a decade. Following this is the North American premiere of Blake Works I, an elegant fusion of modern choreography with popular music in the form of Grammy nominee James Blake's third studio album The Colour in Anything. Rounding off the program is Forsythe's breathtaking Pas/Pasts 2018, a series of duets, trios and short solos where eloquent movements are punctuated by jazz syncopation and dreamy melodies of an electronic score.
