SAW IT ON BROADWAY

I loved it! I have been a Donna Summer fan since I was 10 years old and this was like having her back with us for an evening. I hope the traveling cast will be as good as the Broadway cast.

WONDERFUL

I loved it. I don't understand why anyone could calling boring. It was toe tapping, great singing along with the digital background and sound effects.

AWESOME

I saw the show opening night in SF and I loved it. Having been a fan but never having gotten to see her live. It was like I got that chance. I thought the story of her life could have been made more clear. But i’d go again in a heartbeat.

FABULOUS SHOW

The singing, dancing and costumes are all amazing. We loved Diva Donna, who has a fantastic voice. I took my family to see the show and everyone loved it. My teenage daughter says this is now her favorite Broadway show... and she has seen a lot.

FABULOUS!!

I went with my sister last night. We laughed, cried, sang, and danced in our seats. The Three Donna's all had amazing voices but I really loved the "oldest" Donna telling the story. We experienced a night of pure joy.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

High energy show that includes all of Donna's greatest hits. The performances were outstanding. The audience had a great time singing along.

SINGERS ARE GREAT

The singers are great. I was confused when it started and the young cast playing instruments pretending. Also confused why the women in cast background looked like men and played men. Story choppy with flash backs. The 3 women singers were GREAT. Young Donna was played by understudy in Stl and she could sing. Loved the singing. I gave it 4 for singing, not story.

DIDN"T PLAY MY SONG! "SPRING AFFAIR"

Saw it on B'way loved it! I laughed, cried, danced and sang through the entire production. If you're stiff and uptight don't go. The whole audience was lit and enjoyed the nostalgia. The cast gave their all and they tastefully told that "Queen of Disco" truth. She gave us what we were looking for in them 70's and we danced like there was no tomorrow. Thank you Ms. Summers. And, oh, go with friends that respect the era and the music. Now go have a ball!

THE DONNA SUMMER MUSICAL

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, wonderful venue, great sound but the Colonial needs to catch up with the times and drop the mask requirement. Very annoying!

DISAPPOINTED

not the best I've seen, not the worst.....found it a bit boring and checking my watch to realize I had 40 minutes left

NO BAD - NO GOOD JUST LOW BUDGET PRODUCTION

I love their voices, they are not like Donna Summer but very talented voices. I like the story, very informative. Mediocre scenography materials and low budget technological stagecraft of performance design, in compare with other productions. They have too many females playing the role of male characters. The majority of the production are female, only 2 or 3 real males.

NEEDED MORE

The actress playing Diva Donna had an incredible voice and was a joy to listen to. I would gladly pay to hear her do a musical tribute to Donna Summer. The choreography could have been more disco. There were no lifts, one pair of skates, and no platform shoes with goldfish in the heels. I think I would have found it more interesting if the mood of the times as it related to Ms. Summer had been integrated into the story (the disco craze, the launch of MTV, the escalating AIDS epidemic). Instead it was a dull point-by-point presentation of milestones in her life with no context outside of that.

WAS EXPECTING A DONNA SUMMER "TRIBUTE"

I've seen a few tribute bands and they emulate the artist(s), but this is a musical within a type of biography, which is interesting, but it didn't work for me (e.g. there are three Donna Summer singers representing different stages of her life). I would have preferred one singer providing a brief introduction to a song, singing that song, then the next song, etc.. Also, I find audience wannabe members, who stand up and wave their arms, very annoying and inconsiderate - there were several at this event including two next to us. Come on people, SIT DOWN AT CONCERTS, you're not the only ones who want to see!

TERRIBLE STAGE DESIGN, WEAK STORY

This show was mediocre and it seemed that's what it set out to be. It was hard to follow the story and we didn't really get a full picture of her journey. We were googling her on our way home because we were left unsatisfied by scrambled, minimal details in the plot. Also, it is such a turn-off to see a performing star who is never proud or thrilled of what she achieves. She seems ungrateful. Disco, the 1970's, pop-star mansions and the club scene offer boundless possibilities for sets and costumes and the audience came ready. Instead, we were just bombarded by dumb things. Dancing around with musical instruments that weren't being played. What was up with those cars? The video screen panels? The record player on a pedestal? The ridiculous laugh track. The girls dressed as ugly androgynous people. Uggh

SUMMER

nothing was developed. Just snipets of what was listed chronologically in the program. Seemed like a someone telling a story that didn't really want to expose themselves

WEAK, WEAK, WEAK ..... ONE TO MISS!

Wow, I haven't been so disappointed in a musical in a while. Instead of a Disco Story worthy of Donna Summer music, we got weak sets, weak story, weak backdrops, adequate leads (but hardly worthy of the great Donna Summer!), man-hating themes, and underwhelming choreography. Sorry guys, but your last two songs to end this musical could NOT resuscitate this disaster. If you're expecting anything like MamaMia!, forget about it and save your $$ for the next offering.
