NEVERLAND -MEH
We love the ART and are season pass holders.. Neverland is a semi-fictional story about JM Barrie's inspiration behind Peter Pan-his relationship with the Davis boys and their mother. Neverland, having no creative spark of its own, piggybacks on the magic of the original Peter Pan - even asking the audience to clap to bring Tinkerbell back to life. The music is forgettable: the songs sounded so familiar I thought they lifted tracks from old pop songs and threw on rhyming lyrics. Scenery and special effects are fabulous. Actors are wonderfully cast, their vocals perfect. Most of the funny jokes were inside theater jokes, like "I work in the theater I see fairies everyday." "I'm the producer you have to do everything I say.." and so on. Even not improved, it may do well on Broadway: G-rated shows attract many a busload of tourists. The show is actually somewhat depressing and I am glad I took my husband and not my 11yo!
