Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol Reviews
Librettist Brad H. Bell and legendary songwriter Dolly Parton have managed to create a fresh, Americanized take on the Dickens classic that is heartwarming, witty and sure to melt any curmudgeon's heart. The opening night audience was up on its feet at cutain's close, and rightfully so. This is the perfect holiday treat for all ages.

VERY DISAPPOINTING IN ALMOST EVERY WAY
We expected a touching and professional holiday performance at this great Boston venue. Everything disappointed: the story, lyrics, choreography, staging, sound, casting, costumes, and spirit were all lacking. Dolly may have had a good idea but both her writing and the direction and implementation were worse than a community theatre. Only the actors, singers, musicians, and theatre staff were talented and gracious but could not do any more with weak material, poor sets, bad mics, simplistic dancing and no memorable songs or lines. We paid Boston prices but got bad community product. We left with many others at intermission.

Beautiful music, energetic choreography, solid acting (Scrooge showed incredible energy), and a warm, relatable storyline contributed to making the play a holiday memory we’ll treasure. The appearance by Dolly Parton was icing on the cake!

GREAT SHOW TO GET IN CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
Saw the show with wife and two teenage kids. We all loved it. Music and acting is excellent. It is hard to find entertainment that is not cynical and dark these days. This is a great show to get you in the Christmas spirit. Go see it.

So frustrated - left a more than half empty theatre at Intermission. The music over powered the actors so you couldn’t hear what they were saying. Many high school musicals were better performed. Had such high hopes for Dolly’s music but it was an expensive let down.
Lucy from Stow, Massachusetts
Poor mics even after 2 weeks of production. The cast is talented but they end up playing too many characters. The songs were often difficult to hear but the band was amazing. This show just didn't hit the mark and felt more like community theater.

COULDN'T HEAR A THING
The sound reinforcement was absolutely horrible. Dialogue was incoherent. Who was in charge of sound?
