PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCE - I WISH I COULD THIS PERFORMANCE BY JETHRO TULL 10 STARS !!!

I feel so blessed I got to attend the Jethro Tull performance! The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is a state of the arts venue. Ian Anderson put on a phenomenal show! Some of the songs were new to me and those songs were fun to listen to! The band played great and Ian Anderson is quite a ashowman with beautiful flute playing. This show on September 26, 2023 will be a great memory in my life!

GOODBYE TO IAN AND TULL

The show at the Greek Theater was fantastic. It was a solid good bye to seeing Ian play live and to hearing the music of Jethro Tull.

JETHRO TULL SEVEN DECADES TOUR

I never got to see him in his prime and I had been wishing I had. I got my chance and took it. The concert was entirely enjoyable, Ian did a great job. I wish him the best!

JETRHO TULL ROCKS IN FINE FORM!

Excellent Music the band was in fine form and Ian Anderson was amazing at the ripe age of 76. Music covered portions of seven decades which in itself is amazing. Ian at the ripe age of 76 still played his signature Flute on one leg and was outstanding throughout. Loved the music from last two highly successful albums from 2022 and 2023 where Jim Powers on electric guitar was outstanding and a highlight. Saw two New England show and enjoyed them immensely!

JETHRO TULL ROCKS IN RETURN TO BOSTON!

Great Show with lots of energy and awesome music throughout the performance. Ian Anderson in fine form, amazing Flute playing the night. Saw them twice in New England portion of Seven Decades World Tour and enjoyed both immensely. Being relevant for portions of seven decades is incredible by itself but to put out to bestselling and critically acclaimed records last two years makes the legendary band even more impressive.

GREAT SHOW

Ian was fantastic!!! Music was very futuristic sounding. Old and new sounded great ! Thank you Sir !

SEVEN DECADES OF GREAT MUSIC

Everyone who follows JT, knows that Ian Anderson has mostly lost his vocals due to a serious throat issue several years ago. So I set that aside and watched for good energy and listened for the music quality I have loved for seven decades. I was not disappointed! The music was tight and hasn't lost a step. Each song, old or new, conjured up the specter of the amazing blend of tradional folk tunes and hard eged rock that I grew up with. So I forgave the vocals and reveled in the music and the energy of 76 year old Mr. Anderson. Worth every penny

IAN MIGHT THINK OF RETIRING FROM LIVE SHOWS.

Sound was just ok. Don’t know who the kid on guitar was. Good but not Barr. Can’t be young forever. Music was great but the energy wasn’t there.

FINE PERFORMANCE FROM GROUNDBREAKING MINSTRELS

Of course it wasn't like the last time I witnessed Jethro Tull in San Bernardino in 1970 but the acoustics of the Rady Shell are way better. The new music from the two new album releases was wonderful as were new takes on old standards like Bouree and Aqualung. The young guitarist was excellent and could sing too. Keyboards and the rest were tight and delivered. As for Ian Anderson, his flute playing is still unbelievably good but he needs to turn over most or all of the vocals to others. Overall a great experience and I'm very glad I went.

MEH

The fact that most everyone remained in their seats through the majorithy of the performance indicates that we were all waiting for the songs that we grew up with from the albums Aqualung, Thick as a Brick, and Passion Play. Unfortunately all we heard for the first 1.5 hours were songs that we did not know. The misery continued after the intermission through the end of the second set. The encore consisted of a version of Aqualung that fans could not sing along to due to a changes in tempo, and the finale of Locamotive Breath that at last delivered something close enough to the studio version we were all waiting for.

NOT REALLY FUN , SADLY

The fun old days of a Tull concert were not happening last night at the Greek theater in L A. Too many newer songs that were too serious and kinda odd. Even the band didn’t seem very happy - but they did sound good at least. And come on , at least play Aqualung without changing it into a new strange version with a flute to add. No Thick Brick or Crossed Eyed Mary. Also no Ian playing acoustic guitar. Probably still see them next tour - but hopefully Ian will lighten up and play the old songs for the fans again.

TERRIFIC INSTRUMENTALS!

Greek Theater - The band and instrumentals were terrific - 5 stars. Ian Anderson is still a wonderful showman. However, Ian had a strangled voice quality and could not sustain notes. I think he should consider allowing other band members to sing the lead on songs. His flute playing was wonderful to hear live. The videos were quite interesting. Disappointed that better known songs weren't played. The Greek Theater is a great open-air venue. The large screens are helpful for viewing the artists from afar. Parking is tricky, but shuttles are available. Food and drink are available, but somewhat pricey. All in all, a great evening out!

JETHRO TULL

Was waiting for vintage Jethro Tull. Thought maybe the second half he would play his older hits but never happened until last couple of songs. By that time his voice was gone. Musically, it was great but lacked the songs from the 70's I so loved.

GOOD - NOT GREAT

What was really interesting was that he reinterpreted many of his earlier “hits” - and I thought that was fine. The last song before the encore was aqualung - and I thought it was going to be a completely instrumental version - and that was great - he did end up singing after a 3 or 4 minutes. Also quite changed was Bouree from stand up. this version was quite good. Nothing from Thick as a brick or songs from the woods (2 of my favs) but he did cover Heavy Horses which I really liked. As for his voice - it’s largely gone - he seemed to do more talking through the lyrics - a bit like what Roger Waters has done with his redux of DSM. He did a few cuts from his latest 2 albums - and they were very good. In those he seemed to rely much more on the flute and not his voice. He asked that no one use their phone until the encore - and everyone seemed to comply. All remained seated the whole show - no groupies dancing in the aisles or leaning on the stage. I liked all of that.

WEAK VOCALS STRONG FLUTE

My first and last time seeing Tull. I only give the show 3 stars for Ian’s superb flute playing. Song soectuin was terrible, mostly new, unfamiliar songs and those that are recognized were rearranged and boring. Ian should only play flute and give up the vocals to someone else. Sad to say but save your money.

RUIN MY MEMORY OF TULL

Although his voice was semi ok his flute playing is classic Tull. Saw Him at the Beacon last week. Bought tickets for my Wife who like myself reminisced about the songs we grew up with. Aqualung was off trmpo and sounded like he was singing underwater in slow motion. Didn’t play classic Tull, songs we grew up with. No bungle, no thick as a brick or Teacher! WTF Ian??? Worst Concert I’ve seen in a long time, paid 400 a ticket and apologized to my Wife. And we’ve been to over 400 Concerts. Redeeming ourselves in a few weeks as we go see U2 again in an awesome venue in a few weeks at the new Las Vegas Sphere.

WHAT THE HECK???

Old man here, thinking that I was going to hear vintage JT. The crap they played was just that - CRAP. Even Christmas Carols!!! Sound, especially voice was Terrible. I could not understand words, even to the songs I knew, which were few and far between. Possibly the worst Concert I have seen in years

ARROGANT AND SELF INDULGENT

They played what THEY WANTED TO PLAY , not what most came to hear..The magic of Tull through the years. Ian B Anderson has completely lost everything.Don't waste your money..Go "living in the past" with your digital library...

TIME TO RETIRE

It was pretty disappointing. Had great seats. 5th row. So hearing them was not an issue but still pretty bad. Did not play what we came to know of Tull. Ian, time to retire my friend.

MAINE FAN

I saw him at the Hampton Beach Casino last night (Oct 27). I was so excited to see him. I'm on the "see them before they are dead" tour. I saw him in Portland,Maine in the Mid 80's, and they were outstanding. I spent stupid money on 5th row center seats, and was so disappointed. His arrogance showed right through, by playing all this new stuff, and not his great stuff that was from the past. The crowd was 45 and up in age, and i'm sure they all wanted to hear the familiar songs we grew up with. Huge waste of money for me. I would have skipped this one if i knew. I ran into his tour manager by chance at a local bar after the show, and he asked me how i liked the show. I told him it was awful. His face went pale. I explained what i just said above. He said he plays what he wants, and not what the fans want.

BORING!!

Wanted to hear vintage Tull hits as advertised. Didn’t hear any songs I recognized until the last two of the night. And they were loose renditions of the originals. Really disappointed!!

WTF?

I’ve seen Tull over 30 times. They’re my favorite band of all time but last night’s performance was clearly the worst I’ve ever seen. It was unprofessional, and sad. Ian Anderson clearly has nothing but contempt for his audience. How else do you explain that playlist? It was as if he picked the worst possible songs and jammed them down our throats. A neo metal tune that dragged on for 10 minutes? 2 Christmas songs? It’s cool to play some of your new tunes but give the people what they paid for. I went to the show with great trepidation, unsure of Ian’s ability to still perform. But I thought that he had more than earned my $150 with all joy that his music has provided me over the years. Surprisingly his singing was acceptable and the band was solid. I never expected what we all experienced last night. A truly insulting performance by someone I idolized. Ian has earned my $150 with his performances over the years but it will be the last time I reach into my wallet.

PAINFUL TO SIT THROUGH

Terrible show. First Ian announces no Pictures or videos. Next demands no one smokes as he announces he is not feeling well, just getting over covid. Has not played one song anyone knows and he sounds terrible. People are on their phones from boredom and he is on stage pointing at the people in their phones. Don't bother seeing the show….

ONE OF THE WORST CONCERTS IVE SEEN

Saw Jethro Tull at the Greek Theatre. Love the band and their hits - one of my favorites Too Bad they were as boring a could be. Played 4 of their hits and the rest was a bunch of non melodic indulgent nonsense. Total waste of time that I will not get back. On top of that... He was a Total A-Hole to the audience. FFFF... Ian Anderson

1.0 star rating Suzanne from San Diego, California

DISAPPOINTED

Fans going to see Ian Anderson hoping to hear many of his beautiful songs from the 60s and 70s will he sorely disappointed. He has lost much of his vocal range and played only 3 of his old hits; the version of Aqualung bore little resemblance to what we remember. He played mostly little known songs from his later career. He also came off as grumpy and unfriendly. Big disappointment. Don’t waste your money or time; play your favorite JT songs on your stereo at home, you’ll enjoy it more.

TOO OLD TO ROCK ’N’ ROLL: TOO YOUNG TO DIE

Don’t waste your precious time on this self righteous human. Ian Anderson is one egomaniacal ass. He revealed obvious contempt for the audience, told people to put their phones away, and not to smoke, practically snarled throughout his ridiculous performance. Once a fan, now a nemesis.

1.0 star rating Jmott from San Diego, California

JY

I wondered why JT did not sing all his hits, voice is shot, Barre not in the band, musicians were awesome but did not go to hear his flute , forgettable evening, even tho waiting for concert to start they played the lamb lies down , made my nite, wish it were Genesis instead lol

SHOW NOT WORTH IT

It was a terrible show. First it was said through a video announcement that no picture taking during the show is allowed until the encore. The band as whole just seemed to be going through the motions. The only bright spot was the bass player & key boardist. Ian Anderson seems to just be going through the motions. He really didn’t sing the songs, was more like saying the words. His voice seems shot. Just seems to want to do the shows for the money. There was no connection from the band to the audience. It was a video screen with band playing in front. No announcements of songs were made, nor any introduction of the players of the band. Felt like I was watching an extended version of a video. At the end, a picture of the player in the band up on screen with their name underneath the picture as the actual person walked across the stage. No thank you to the Audience for being there. No “Thank you” Boston. I will never go see them again!!!

NOT WHAT WE WANTED TO HEAR!

Came full of enthusiasm, left almost crying with disappointment. One of my favorite bands now plays songs about social media. Wow exciting. Wasted my social security money on a lame ass concert. I want a refund. Ian can go to hell.

BORING, SAD, DISAPPOINTING

Saw them a couple nights ago at Mohegan Sun and it was terrible. Lackluster, thin vocals, way too many obscure odd songs, and the songs we did know were "re-imagined" to the point of being unrecognizable. Sure, he can still play the flute and dance on one leg, great. The venue was packed, yet nobody stood or danced or even clapped between songs. I was so confused. It was the weirdest vibe of any concert I've ever been to. My kids Elementary School Christmas Concerts were more entertaining than this, at least I could sing along. I kept praying for a face-melting Aqualung or Locomotive Breath, hoping he would try to redeem the night, but I only got 20 seconds of music I could dance or sing to the entire night. I found that I could kinda do some yoga to the encore. Later, we bumped into several other people that had attended, and they were equally disappointed. Even someone who had gotten free tickets wished they hadn't gone. Do not waste your time or hard-earned money.

1.0 star rating Matt from New York, New York

HITS?

The whole first half only one song we recognized; 2nd half started the same way. I left for the train when the 3rd song was another unknown. The dorky videos didn't enhance the music. Big Dud.

1.0 star rating RogerC from New York, New York

BORING

Ian Anderson, the only original member in the band, obviously only wants to play what he wants to play and doesn't respect that his audience wants to hear old familiar songs. There were only 4 songs from the classic Tull albums (and none from Benefit - my favorite) in the 90 minute set. The only reason to see a legacy act like Jethro Tull is to re-live one's youth, not to be preached at by an aged rock star. The band was competent but uninteresting. Ian's flute playing was good, but his voice has faded and it didn't help that he wouldn't sing into the mic and every time he hit a high note, he pulled his head away from the mic. The video wall was distracting and annoying and didn't make up for the lack of energy on stage. It wasn't even loud! Dull, dull, dull. Hang it up Ian, or do a greatest hits tour.

1.0 star rating Mike Walsh from Boston, Massachusetts

MINSTREL

The guy in front of me fell asleep early. If I knew what he didn't play, I would have fallen asleep too. Total bomb of a concert. It's a shame because he has such great music.
