MIXED BAG

(Napa 7/23). I already knew not to assume anything about NY's performance. I didn't need to hear any hits. I'm here to see the artist do his thing. That said, I was disappointed musically. He seemed detached and disorganized and didn't really try to connect with the crowd. I'm sure the "what's your favorite planet?" call out is part of every performance. For such a small venue, I wanted a more intimate show. However, looking around at my fellow aging boomers, watching an aging artist delivered a lot of poignancy, which I appreciated. I was disappointed by aspects of the show, but still glad to see it

SO DISAPPOINTING

We were so excited to see Neil at the Greek. What better venue for an artist of his time. The Greek is stunning. Mr Young played a lot of new stuff or older songs that no one had ever heard. There was no history or intro to any. I came to hear my favorites and left so disappointed. He seemed bored and confused while shuffling around a darkened stage. Sang out of tune and admitted it to the very forgiving audience who tried to laugh it off. Not funny when you spend that kind of money and time planning to see a performance. He admitted these songs had been stored away in some forgotten room and that was the only truth I heard. Where were the old songs that we all love and cherish? We actually left early when it was clear we were not going to hear what we came for. I hate to say this because most of us there last night are in Mr Young’s age group, but he seemed confused, forgetful and aimlessly.rambling about a lifeless stage. I still love you, Neil.and will continue listening to you on my vinyl albums and thinking of better times.

THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING ON THE TICKET BEFORE PURCHASING

I love Neil Young and some of the songs he played last night, that I've never heard before, were pretty good. That said, I didn't spend $700 NOT to hear Old Man, Harvest Moon, Down By the River and Needle. I'm sorry, you can want to only play new or deep cut songs because you are sick of playing the music that made you famous, but at least then you should provide a warning to ticket buyers that you will not hear the music you are looking for. I guarantee half the sold out crowd there last night would have opted out. We feel like we got conned. For a guy that preaches "love", that wasn't very loving.

People pay hard earned money to hear their favorites. Our seats $400 each, for 4 songs that we recognized. Artists need to understand why fans are willing to pay hundreds to see them. Bruce Springsteen is an artist who gets it, Neil Young was a disappointment.

VERY STRANGE CONCERT

The tickets and internet said a 7 o'clock start time, it started at 7:30, Neil got on about 8:30. He was not what I had hoped for. He acted very old, picked mostly new songs which I had not heard, wondered around the stage telling us how good it was to see our faces, while we couldn't see his. This is the only concert I remember going to that big screens were not provided during the concert. It was a large audience of 7,500, most of which could not see the darkened stage. I go to concerts to hear great oldies and see the artists, neither of which occurred at San Diego

UNINVITED AUDIENCE

I cannot believe that the Rady Shell allowed Neil Young to dictate venue procedures. No video monitors. Seriously! A lack luster performance with him wandering around on stage with a poorly conceived playlist and barely a familiar tube. In addition, he’s blaming the audience for not getting into it. Rady has had some fabulous entertainment at what is clearly a world class venue. This night was a waste of time and money. Did I mention it cost 47$ for two CANS of wine?

LOST MY PATIENCE

Grew up listening to Neil, After the Gold Rush -I was hoping to hear songs from that, at least a few or half classic, but that did not happen. I think what bothered me the most was the fumbling around, acting way to casual, like, Oh, you guys are still here?- I feel bad for people who spent a lot of money to see him. If he's tired, he should not perform. Sorry.
