With the Me Too movement and a myriad abuse allegations finally coming to light in Hollywood, feminism and its ideals are firmly in the spotlight. The celebration of womanhood and female empowerment is more important then ever, especially in cultures beyond the West. HEAR WORD! brings the fascinating true stories of Nigerian women and their everyday struggles for equality.
A host of Nigeria's most talented actors including Taiwo Ajjai-Lycett, Kate Henshaw, Omonor, Joke Silva, Debbie Ohiri and Rita Edward will come together to create a performance art piece that doubles as an arresting social commentary about what women from every walk of life face in their home country. The brave production will tackle topics such as cirumcision, trafficking, barrenness and female-centred violence, whilst giving a voice to the voiceless.
