AMAZING!
Truly a magical experience for all involved. We were a group of 12 ranging in age from 6 to 60-something and we ALL enjoyed the show. It was a wonderful thought out and wonderfully performed piece.....worth every penny spent!
Phenomenal
We took our grandchildren. It was hard to tell who was more thrilled by this amazing production, the youngsters or the oldsters. The balletics, acting, aerial scenes, puppetry were all wonderful. I have two minor complaints: 1) there was one puppet (the ostrich) which seemed completely superfluous and 2) the sound of the (air circulation) fans was too loud in the upper seats. Had the volume of the sound system been higher it might have obviated the problem but we had to strain to hear all the dialogue. Nonethless, I give this production rave reviews. It was as remarkable a piece of theater as I've seen in my 65 years. Special praise for the actresses playing Tinker Bell & Tiger Lily.
LOVED IT!
We saw Peter Pan in Chicago on August 13 and loved it! The actors and the effects were phenomenal. Our group consisted of 3 adults with no kiddees but the little ones around us seemed totally enchanted throughout the 2 hour production. We took the train to Chicago and walked along the river to the theatre. The outdoor tent setting made it a perfect summer outing. We got there early to experience the pre-show extras. Loved the "Learn to Speak Pirate" class! Once inside the theatre tent, the air conditioning was fine, the acoustics were great and the sight lines perfect for everyone in the audience - everyone is sitting close to the action. Favorite parts: flying over London, mermaid swim and Peter/Hook's fight scene. Too bad it is the end of the Chicago run, I'd like to see it again.
AN AWFULLY BIG ADVENTURE
I'm Nelly and I'm twelve years old. I came to this show two times, because it was so good. The first time was with my parents, and the second was with my big brother and cousin. I'm planning to go again this week. For one, the effects and props were phenomenal. When Peter and the gang were flying, I felt as though I was flying through the brisk air of London with them. And a few times, I forgot Nana and the crocodile were just puppets. When the croc roared in my face, I was afraid she was going to chomp me up! And I felt so sorry for poor Nana when Mr. Darling gave her his medicine. The story was great. I thought it was cool how it was shown from both the pirates' and the boys' and Wendy's perspectives. It met and exceeded my expectations(I also read the book). Overall, this is the best play I've ever seen, and I've seen some pretty good ones. The effects and acting were amazing. The characters were great. It was an experience I'll never forget. It was an awfully big adventure.
I loved the show...by Cami Guss
Hi, I'm 5 years old and went with my papa and nana to see Peter Pan. The show was special, amazing, and fun. The show was so funny, because of Tinker Bell. The alagator was so cool and it ate Captain Hook. You have to see the show. The flying was so cool. It made me smile and so good and fantastic. Peter Pan and Wendy were the best but when Wendy was a woman Peter wanted to have her fly back but she said "I'm married and have a Kid". I loved all the characters but Captin hook had his hand cut off. Peter was on the rock and saved Wendy. You should see this show it was great. My Papa and Nana are the best in the world for taking me. PS: From Papa...Give yourself extra time to get to the show. The traffic can be bad getting there. Parking is no problem and easy to get out. NOTE: It is a little confusing getting back on 90 because you don't go out the way you came in. We just went down a few lights. Show was great, actors were very good and no slip ups.
This is not a Disney movie- and that is a good thing!
This production combines incredible special effects with traditional British drama and storytelling. The set and props evoke the joy, chaos and, yes, violence of imaginative play. The story is very true to Barrie's original book, not the preschool-friendly Disney version Americans have come to expect. I thought this production was very respectful of children's wit and intelligence. Concerned parents may want to give this book a read and be prepared to discuss with their kids how/why this story is told in a different way. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and heart of this production, particularly the powerful imp version of Tinkerbell and breathtaking girl-woman Wendy. The 360 Peter Pan is a great treat for kids and adults willing to accept a creative adaptation of a Victorian classic.
