This is not a Disney movie- and that is a good thing!

This production combines incredible special effects with traditional British drama and storytelling. The set and props evoke the joy, chaos and, yes, violence of imaginative play. The story is very true to Barrie's original book, not the preschool-friendly Disney version Americans have come to expect. I thought this production was very respectful of children's wit and intelligence. Concerned parents may want to give this book a read and be prepared to discuss with their kids how/why this story is told in a different way. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and heart of this production, particularly the powerful imp version of Tinkerbell and breathtaking girl-woman Wendy. On first seeing the actor who played Peter, I thought I needed glasses..oh, wait, I have glasses. Peter was too old, with a disturbing chest! I and my 5 year old granddaughter and husband enjoyed the visual effects...but the seats were uncomfortable and we couldn't always understand the actors. Did Tiger Lily have to dance in such a sexual manner? Did Tinker Bell have to be so obnoxious? Jealous, yes, mean, yes..but making farting noises, no. It was fun to see but definitely not worth the $200 for 3 tickets! I expected to be wowed...I was not. It was a bit hokey. Is that a word? Peter needs to definitely grow up and move on to age appropriate roles! ... Read more
