Inspired by the real life revolutionary Deborah Sampson who disguised herself as a man to serve in the continental army, this glorious production takes the best of Donizetti's original, replete with slapstick and masquerade, and breathes new light into it for America at 250! 

What Is The Story?

In Donizetti's original, a young girl has been raised by an enthusiastic band of soldiers, of whom she thinks as her 'fathers'. When she is of age, a mysterious stranger arrives from the past to train her up for high society and eventually take her as his wife. But the tomboy isn't going down without a fight, and anyway, her heart is already promised to a strapping peasant lad who saved her life...
