Romeo and Juliet get a drunken makeover in the hilarious Shit-Faced Shakespeare
The Magnificent Bastards Theatre Company presents Romeo and Juliet with a twist of lime and more than a dash of vodka in Shit-faced Shakespeare, the outrageous comedy show where one member of the cast is, as they said in the Bard's day, in their cups. The rib-tickling phenomenon debuted in the UK in 2010, marking sold-out shows at the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe festivals before bringing its genius formula stateside in 2015.
The juxtaposition of Shakespeare's profound tragedy about two young star crossed lovers and the unpredictability of a drunken maverick amongst the cast makes for utterly hilarious viewing. Said unlucky cast member must wet their whistles before and during their performance, ensuring ramshackle sword fights, happy daggers, colorful insults and hiccups aplenty. Kick back, crack open a can and of course, enjoy Shakespeare responsibly.
