This beautiful opera house started life in 1928 as the B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre where it played movies and was also one of the best examples of a vaudeville palace on the circuit. From 1929 it operated solely as a movie palace until 1980, when it was acquired as a home for the Opera Company of Boston. Today it plays host to a variety of entertainment from opera and ballet, as well as staging the many Broadway productions that tour the country, making it one of the most successful venues in the city.
