Why see Boston Symphony Orchestra - Andris Nelsons conducts Leon, Ravel, and Stravinsky?

seong-jin cho stars

The acclaimed South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra for an emphatic display of artistry in Maurice Ravel's stirring Piano Concerto for the Left Hand. As the name suggests, it was written specifically to be played with a single hand, due to its commissioning by Paul Wittgenstein, an Austrian pianist who lost his arm during the Battle of Galicia in World War I.

Also to be performed are the Pulitzer-winning Stride by Cuban-American composer Tania Leon, and Igor Stravinsky's timeless Rite of Spring, a seasonal staple in concert halls across the world and one of the most beloved and recorded works from the 20th-century repertoire.
