A Frankenstein for a new generation
Chicago-based theatre makers Manual Cinema are back with this brand new interpretation of Mary Shelley's genre-defining horror hit, Frankenstein. Through a stunning mixture of animation, puppetry, and more, expect a sumptuous feast for the eyes and ears as this Emmy-winning company braids together the stories of Victor Frankenstein, his titular monster and Mary Shelley's own biography in a tale of love, loss, and creation of the self.
What is the story of Frankenstein?
Published by Shelley in 1818, the novel follows Doctor Frankenstein, who after the loss of his mother is determined to make death a thing of the past by creating an immortal, 'perfect being'. Once the creation is brought to life, however, Doctor Frankenstein realizes too late the terrible mistake he's made, as the monster escapes and plots revenge on the one who brought him into this world.
