Alan Gilbert conducts the Boston Symphony Orchestra through a magnificent showing of Beethoven's mastery, featuring the composer's Triple Concerto and Fourth Symphony! With wondrous talent of the extraordinary pianist Kirill Gerstein, violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Steven Isserlis providing the solos, the pieces provide a true showcase of musicians at the top of their game.
Composed in 1806, Beethoven's Fourth Symphony is often underrepresented in comparison to the works surrounding it, yet possesses a unique elegance which positions it as no less monumental. His Triple Concerto, written three years prior, showcases his innovative approach to the concerto form by integrating three soloists into a unified, virtuosic musical dialogue.
