Anne-Sophie Mutter performs Williams' Violin Concerto No. 2
Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra to perform the piece written for her by living legend John Williams, his Violin Concerto No. 2, conducted by Andris Nelson. The piece had its premiere right here with the Boston Symphony Orchestra two years ago, with Williams himself conducting, so Mutter's return is tantamount to coming home with this piece.
Also on the program are Richard Strauss' tone poem Death and Transfiguration and Maurice Ravel's La Valse, two dramatic pieces which lend themselves well to this spectacular evening.
