Boston Pops - Summer of 69 with Arlo Guthrie

Boston Pops - Summer of 69 with Arlo Guthrie at Boston Symphony Hall

Why see Boston Pops - Summer of 69 with Arlo Guthrie?

Alro Guthrie & The Pops Celebrate 1969

The Summer of 1969 proved a seismic leap forward for humankind - not only did Neil Armstrong and co land on the moon and Nixon announce the US's withdrawal from Vietnam, but popular music flourished thanks to a period of great social upheaval, culminating in the legendary Woodstock festival. Join the Boston Pops Orchestra and protest icon and folk singer songwriter Alro Guthrie, who performed at the festival way back when, as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the milestone concert.

Alongside a mix of Guthrie's own original material and Woodstock classics, the pops will pay homage to 1969's most visionary albums - The Beatles' Abbey Road and The Who's rolling rock opera Tommy! If that wasn't enough, they'll also be presenting the Boston premiere of American composer James Beckel's From the Earth to the Moon and Beyond, a soaring sonic tribute to the moon landing.
