Seong-Jin Cho Stars

Star Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho returns to familiar surroundings, appearing once again with Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra to perform the final piece Rachmaninoff composed for orchestra and piano, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Following that masterpiece, BSO will also delight audiences with a rendition of Rachmaninoff's 1908 Second Symphony, a bright and beautiful work full of lyrical moments and a classic of the romantic style.

Famed for its difficulty for performers, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini - and specifically its 18th movement - is one of the most popular works of the 20th century. It is known beyond the classical concert hall and into popular culture at large, having appeared on screen everywhere from The Good Wife to Groundhog Day to The Walking Dead, on the popular video game Gran Turismo and even being replicated by Fleetwood Mac on their song "Everywhere".
