Ken-David Masur conducts the Boston Symphony Orchestra in a varied program of well known works, and little known gems. The night begins with Harbison's slight orchestral piece Remembering Gatsby, a precursor to his later Great Gatsby opera. Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1 follows, and Prokofiev's iconic music from Romeo and Juliet rounds off the night. The orchestra is joined by pianist Garrick Ohlsson.
The program for the concert is as follows:
John Harbison - Remembering Gatsby (Foxtrot for Orchestra)
Rachmaninoff Piano - Concerto No.1
Prokofiev - Excerpts from Romeo and Juliet
