Why see Boston Symphony Orchestra - Tugan Sokhiev conducts Rachmaninov and Chausson - Yunchan Lim?
supreme talent
South Korean prodigious pianist Yunchan Lim joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Rachmaninov's terrific third piano concerto, showcasing the mind-boggling virtuosic skill that has seen him become an international star despite his young age. Led masterfully by guest conductor Tugan Sokhiev, also on the program is Ernest Chausson's marvellous and under-appreciated Symphony in B-Flat.
Yunchan Lim's sparkling talent first came to international attention in 2022 when he became the youngest ever gold medalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, with global acclaim and touring rightly following. Both before and since his breakout the young virtuoso has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic and Korea Symphony. Be sure to take this opportunity to see this raw talent at work.
