First making waves in the late 1990s as one half of the legendary duo Black Star alongside Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), Kweli quickly became recognised as one of hip hop’s most skilled lyricists. His album Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star remains a landmark release, acclaimed for its intelligent wordplay, soulful production, and refreshing approach to conscious rap.

Now regarded as one of hip hop’s greatest, Talib Kweli has spent the past two decades building a career on socially conscious writing. Alongside his collaborations with producer Hi-Tek as Reflection Eternal and his acclaimed solo albums, Kweli has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Just Blaze, J Dilla, and Madlib.
