Joshua Bell and Jacques Lacombe open the annual Tanglewood season
The opening night of Tanglewood's new 2016 season is in the deft and able hands of conductor Jacques Lacombe and American violin virtuoso and Tanglewood favorite Joshua Bell. Together with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the pair will perform three stunning works by Ravel, Saint-Saens and Prokofiev, starting things off as they mean to go on!
Recently named the Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, powerhouse performer Bell will take on the solo of Saint-Saens' arresting Violin Concerto No. 3, while closing piece Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5 is a homecoming of sorts - it first had its American premiere in 1945, played by none other the BSO!
Gala Programme:
Ravel - Alborada del gracioso
Saint-Saens - Violin Concerto No. 3
Prokofiev - Symphony No. 5
