Three time Tony winner, and recent Oscar recipient for Bridge of Spies, Mark Rylance takes to the Boston stage in Nice Fish. Playing a limited run at the Loeb Drama Center before moving onto New York, it's a contemplative portrait of two ice fisherman waiting for one last catch of the season. Rylance co-authored the play alongside Duluth prose poet Louis Jenkins, whose poems make up the bulk of the abstract dialogue, while his wife Claire van Kampen directs.
One of modern theatres leading lights, British thesp Rylance has an incredible list of stage credits to his name, including his three Tony winning turns in Boeing, Boeing, Jeruselum and Twlefth Night. On the silver screen, he's become an actor of choice for Steven Spielberg, starring in Bridge of Spies and the director's upcoming Roald Dahl adaptation BFG.
The story centers on two ice fishermen awaiting the end of the season and one last bite. As they wait in the freezing weather, they meditate on a myriad of subjects, including life, watches and the difference between dogs and wolves...
