Matty in the Morning

Matty in the Morning at Wilbur Theater

Why see Matty in the Morning?

An Evening In Conversation With Local Hero Matt Siegel

Since 1981, local legend Matt Siegel has kept listeners entertained and informed on the Matty In The Morning show on KISS 108. The station's highest-rated show (and most celebrated radio host) has kept fans coming back every segment thanks to a delightful mix of insightful interviews and Matt's undeniable charisma, as well as his off-the-wall humor and sarcastic commentary. Don't miss a chance to spend an exciting evening in conversation with the ratings-ruling radio king at Boston's historic Wilbur Theatre once more!

Many Bostonians think of Matt as a long-time friend, one who's accompanied them on their early morning commutes for most of their lives. Discussing family and his personal life, his brash persona positions him as a crotchety uncle of sorts, albeit one who knows how to tell one heck of a good story. Outside of Beantown, Matt has been recognized twice for his considerable contributions, winning the highest honor in radio - the coveted National Association of Broadcaster's Marconi Award for Personality of the Year - not once but twice in 2001 and 2009.

IMPRESSIVE

Ok, so, it wasn’t exactly what I or my girlfriends expected. We often go all in with an expectation that we are going to see what we are used to seeing. If it turns out differently, we tend to get a bit confused. That said, Christine Hurley’s opening was hilariously entertaining teeing up a brilliant balance for what was coming next from the avid golfer. Shortly after Matty took stage, it became clearer that he had a purpose beyond his usual. His classic comedic style was present, but more impressively he unpacked and elevated thoughtful and meaningful his past reflections. I have nothing but respect & appreciation for Matty for being authentically vulnerable with his fans. To confess he didn’t always do a great job at “filtering”, to admit he did not retire from his legendary career the way he would have liked, AND to genuinely convey he issued apologies that were not accepted are all things he has undoubtedly worked hard to accept. It takes a tremendous courage to reflect on the impact we have on others! Sadly, a thing that too many people won’t ever give a crap about. Questions from the audience were of care and concern for how he is doing now & the #1 question...What the heck went down? Reading between the lines, he is in a good place. We’ll never know those details relating to all the parties involved (legal restrictions most likely). Yes, I grew up with Matty in the Morning, a forthright legendary radio personality. This show takes a deeper dive into the comedy and tragedy behind a public persona. Arguably no one can do it like Matty. Wishing him much peace and happiness! ~A Lifelong Fan ... Read more
