Boundary-breaking dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet evolved from the Alvin Ailey dance troupe, where principal dancers Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson realized their choreographic dreams with the birth of a new company in 1994. The world-renowned outfit heads across North America this year!

Founded in 1980, Mark Morris formed the Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) and is also called "the preeminent modern dance organization of our time" (Yo-Yo Ma). Morris began to create dances based on the popular music of our time and broke away from the other choreographers of his generation. With the use of live music and community engagement as a key component in he dances, his dancers play the role of the orchestra, mimicking the groupings of voices and instruments. Not only that but the Dance group provides educational opportunities for all ages and abilities in dance and music!

The Martha Graham Dance Company has been a world leader in the development of contemporary dance since its founding in 1926. Expanding the vocabulary of movement and forever altering the art form by adding social, political, psychological and sexual contexts. Graham has created a language based upon the capacity of how much the body can truly express itself through movement.
